Can you produce outside of Tokyo?

Yes. We produce across all of Japan — from Hokkaido to Okinawa — including productions in Kyoto, Osaka, Nagano, and rural and regional locations across the country. We have established crew networks and local contacts nationwide, and our bilingual producers manage all regional logistics, permits, and location access fluently in both English and Japanese, wherever the production takes us.

Can we direct remotely if we can't travel to Japan?

Yes. We regularly run productions for international clients who can't travel to Japan. We provide live video feeds of the shoot via Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams, with real-time English translation during Japanese-language interviews and on-set direction. You can give notes, adjust the creative, and follow every moment of the production from anywhere in the world.

Can you handle everything from concept to final delivery?

Yes. We offer complete production — concept development, scripting, casting, storyboarding, shooting, editing, and final delivery. We can equally work from your own brief or creative direction if you already have it in place. Either way, we manage the entire process and communicate throughout in both English and Japanese, keeping everything clear and aligned at every stage.

Does Alphabet work and speak in English?

Yes we are native English speakers that are fully bilingual. Alphabet Productions was founded by international filmmakers with backgrounds from Australia the UK and the United states. English is our primary working language. Our producers, directors, and all key crew communicate in English — and our fully bilingual team manages all Japanese communication simultaneously. We work with international advertising agencies, production companies, and direct clients, as well as agencies and direct clients here in Japan, fluently in both English and Japanese.

Can you produce throughout Japan?

We produce Video Productions across all of Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa in almost every prefecture. We not only shoot regularly in key locations such as Osaka and Kyoto, but we also regularly head to Okinawa, Kyushu, Wakayama, Tottori, Shikoku, Nagano, Aomori, Akita, and many other locations. We usually have to take key crew members from Tokyo and pick up local production assistants, drivers, and support crew in local areas where available. See our production support page.

How does pricing work? Can you give us a rate card?

We can give you a rate card, but it would be better for us to put together an estimate based on your needs so we can factor in all the costs associated with the shoot for you to fully understand the required budget. We produce shoots with small documentary crews all the way up to to large-scale TV commercials. as there is such a wide range of crew and costs available, we would prefer to understand your requirements first and then estimate accordingly. Every production has many line items, and a simple rate card rarely reflects the total costs.

What makes Alphabet Productions different from other production companies in Tokyo?

Alphabet is led by filmmakers who have built careers across the UK, United States, and Australia before coming to Japan — and that experience shapes how we work. We approach production in Japan with a can-do mindset, finding solutions where other Productions find obstacles and pushing through to deliver for our clients. We understand Japanese culture, protocol, and nuance deeply but we always try to find a way to make things happen.

What types of film and video projects do you produce?

We do creative production for TV commercials, brand films, documentaries, corporate video, social media content, and web films — for advertising agencies, global brands, streaming platforms, and direct clients. Our work includes productions for Manchester City FC, BVLGARI, the UFC, BMW Japan, New Balance, and Asana, among others. We also offer production services and support for incoming production companies so they can execute their projects to the best of their ability.

We're an overseas production company bringing our own director. Can you be our local partner in Japan?

Yes, and it's a core part of what we do. We regularly serve as local line producers for international companies bringing their own director or DOP. We handle crew, equipment, locations, permits, transport, accommodation, visas, and all Japanese-language logistics, communicated to you entirely in English. Can we direct connect remotely if not in Japan?

Yes. We regularly run productions for international clients who can't travel to Japan. We provide live video feed through Q-take for accurate monitoring and we can also communicate and set up face to face scenarios with Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams, with real-time Japanese to English translation. You can give notes, adjust the creative, and follow every moment of the production from anywhere in the world. We can work with your producers, director, and team directing remotely.

Do you handle post-production in both English and Japanese?

Yes our bilingual editors can edit in Japanese and communicate with you in English, providing translated subtitles and transcripts, allowing you to understand and direct interviews and dialogue whilst making sure that the video still feels right from a native Japanese perspective. We can handle all post production for you including final subtitling, on-screen graphics, titles, and final versioning in both Japanese and English. Do you produce content for Japanese domestic clients as well as international ones?

Yes. While many of our clients are international brands and agencies producing content in Japan, we also work regularly with Japanese companies seeking international production standards and English-language content capability. We're equally comfortable in both directions, and communicate fluently in English and Japanese throughout every stage of production — from initial brief through to final delivery.
