Baccarat Residences Saadiyat — Sou Fujimoto Interview Film, Tokyo
Architect Sou Fujimoto designed Baccarat Residences Saadiyat, the Abu Dhabi development by Aldar in the Saadiyat Cultural District. We were asked to film him for the development's brand film. At his studio in Tokyo we shot an interview and B-roll, and the final films combine them with Aldar's CGI renderings of the building. It is interview film production in Tokyo for an international property launch.
How we produced it
Fujimoto's studio is a large warehouse space, visually striking in its own right. To frame him within it, we hung a textured canvas backdrop and lit the space with LED tube practicals in the background, giving a polished look that still feels like his world. The interview was in English, which Fujimoto speaks very well, for an international audience.
Our time was fixed: one hour for the interview and 45 minutes of B-roll with Fujimoto. With talent at this level, everything starts in pre-production: clear communication, agreed expectations, and a schedule built around their day. The crew was nimble: director/DOP Andrew Goldie, a first AC, a gaffer, a lighting assistant and a sound recordist.
What we delivered
We delivered a 3-minute film and a 45-second countdown version, cut with the client's CGI renderings to tell the story of the development's forms.
