Corporate Video Production in Tokyo & Japan
Alphabet Productions is a bilingual corporate video production company in Tokyo, working across Japan. Most corporate films start with an interview, and interviews are what we do best. We make CEO interviews, customer stories, recruitment films, internal communications and corporate documentaries for international and Japanese companies, in English, in Japanese, or both.
Our clients include Meta, Microsoft, KPMG, NTT Data, Asana, Rakuten Symphony, Visa, Hilton Hotels, Infiniti, Databricks and Retail AI. Some come to us directly. Others come through an agency or production company overseas that needs a team it can rely on in Japan. In both cases we help shape the story, film it with care, and deliver on time.

Corporate interviews in Tokyo and across Japan
The interview is the heart of most corporate video, and it is the request we hear most. A bilingual producer prepares the questions with you and conducts the interview in English or Japanese, so the person on camera can relax and speak naturally. We light and frame each interview with care, usually on two cameras, in your office, on location or in a studio. Then we film documentary-style B-roll around it, so the edit shows the work as well as the person talking about it.
An interview does not have to be a person in a chair. For Bvlgari and Vogue Japan we filmed a multi-camera interview with the singer and actor Tomohisa Yamashita and cut it as a split screen, showing several views of him at once.
CEO and executive interviews
A CEO interview should sound like the person, not the press release. We prepare the questions with your communications team, light and shoot the interview to a cinematic standard, and run it in English or Japanese. For NTT Data we filmed the CEO message series that announced the new NTT Data Group structure. For Rakuten Symphony we filmed a CEO communication alongside product introduction and brand messaging videos.
Customer stories, testimonial videos and case studies
A customer success video works when the customer says plainly what changed. For Microsoft, with Seattle agency Wild Gravity, we filmed customer story interviews at Hokkoku Bank’s head office in Kanazawa and at Microsoft Japan in Tokyo. For Asana we produced a bilingual customer story with Fujitsu in Tokyo, working between Asana’s marketing team in the United States and Fujitsu’s team in Japan. We handle the introductions, prepare the interview in Japanese, film it and edit it. Your customer has an easy day, and you get a testimonial video or case study you can use in B2B marketing worldwide.
Recruitment and employer branding videos
Hiring is one of the hardest problems a company faces in Japan, and a recruitment video has to show the culture honestly. We made Hilton Hotels’ employer branding film to attract Japanese staff to an international hospitality company. For Databricks Japan we photographed its people at work for the company’s website and recruitment marketing.
For guest-facing hotel films and photography, see hotel video production in Japan.
Internal communications and company culture
Leadership messages, change announcements, company values and culture films for your own staff. For Medibank we made a corporate messaging video on inclusion and speaking up at work, with its own employees on camera. We also make training and onboarding videos, investor relations films, and video coverage of company events and conferences. These are often the most sensitive films a company makes. We are used to brand guidelines, legal review and several rounds of approval, in two languages and across time zones.
Corporate documentaries
Some stories need more room than an interview. For KPMG we filmed the Japan chapter of its sustainability documentary, interviewing global CEOs at a business sustainability conference in Tokyo. For Meta we made a short brand documentary for its Community Voices channel, and for Visa a short documentary on contactless travel in Japan. We also filmed the Japan chapter of The Purpose of Capitalism, a documentary built on interviews with some of the country’s leading CEOs and economists. For longer documentary work, see our documentary production in Japan page.
Brand and company films
A brand video introduces who you are and what you stand for. We produced the Infiniti QX60 “Built by Her” brand film, built around an interview with the car’s interior designer. For Dormeuil we filmed an interview with Dominic Dormeuil on the sustainable values behind the family company. For Retail AI we scripted and produced a film in English and Japanese versions to explain its technology to the world. For NTT Data we scripted and animated a brand film on the company’s history. More on our Film & Video page.
Corporate photography and executive portraits
Portraits, workplace photography and stills, shot on their own or alongside a film so the two match. For campaign and advertising work, see our commercial photography in Tokyo and Japan.
Experience across sectors
Every company we work with teaches us something, and we bring it to the next one.
Technology and software: Meta, Microsoft, Asana, Databricks, Retail AI
Telecommunications and IT services: NTT Data, Rakuten Symphony
Financial and professional services: KPMG, Visa
Insurance and health: Medibank
Automotive and manufacturing: Infiniti
Hospitality: Hilton Hotels
Luxury and fashion: Bvlgari, Dormeuil
Years of this work have shown us how different sectors talk, what their approval and compliance processes need, and what makes staff and customers believe a message. We bring that as advice as well as production: we write scripts, reshape narratives, and advise on company branding and communications. We know how to present a company’s message, and how to help form it in the first place. Made well, a corporate film helps build the culture it describes.
International and Japanese companies, in English and Japanese
We work with international companies communicating in Japan, and with Japanese companies speaking to the world. Our producers are native English speakers and bilingual in Japanese. We conduct interviews and write scripts in both languages. We also deliver subtitles, voiceover and dubbing in other languages, most often Chinese, Spanish, French and German.
Language is half of it. The other half is culture: how a Japanese executive expects to be briefed, how a head office overseas expects approvals to run, and how to keep both comfortable on the same shoot. We have spent years between the two and know how to get the best result for each.
Directors, DOPs and filmmakers who lead the work
Your film is led by a director and a DOP (director of photography) who also make brand films, commercials and documentaries. A boardroom interview gets the same attention to light and framing as a commercial. We can supply the director, DOP and full crew, or work under your own director. Our founder, Andrew Goldie, is a director and DOP with around 25 years of experience; you can see his work at andrewgoldie.com.

Corporate video in Japan: frequently asked questions
How much does corporate video production cost in Japan?
It depends on the number of shoot days, the crew size, the locations and the amount of editing. A one-day interview shoot with a small crew costs far less than a film shot across several cities. Send us your brief and we will return an itemised estimate. We can invoice in JPY, USD, EUR, AUD or SGD.
How far ahead should we book a corporate shoot in Tokyo?
A month ahead is comfortable. Some locations and permits need that long and others need only a week. A straightforward interview shoot can be arranged in a few days.
Can you supply a director and DOP, or work with ours?
Both. We can provide a director, a DOP and a full bilingual crew, or crew a shoot led by your own director. If you only need a corporate videographer in Tokyo for an interview, we can do that too.
