Komatsu HM460 — Industrial Photography, Oita

Komatsu's new HM460 articulated dump truck is a 46-tonne machine, and we photographed it at the company's test site in Oita Prefecture, on the ground and from the air. Branding agency Studio Per brought us in, and the images went into Komatsu's international marketing. For industrial photography in Japan, a live test site is about as real as it gets.

How we shot it

Everyone on site wore full safety gear, and every team stayed in radio contact, so we always knew where the trucks were and where everyone else was. We had permission to fly the drone across the whole site, keeping clear of overhead wires and trees. Andrew Goldie was the photographer, and he also directed the film, which DOP Christoph-Julian Gelep shot.

What we delivered

We delivered a library of 50 images for Komatsu's international teams, plus 8 fully retouched images for posters.

The film from the same shoot is in Komatsu HM460 industrial film. See more of our industrial and corporate photography in Japan.
