Takeshi Inoue is a two-time OPBF and WBO Asia Pacific super welterweight champion who has fought for a world title. Ahead of his fight against Australia's Tim Tszyu, Sydney sports agency TSE Group hired us to shoot the fight promotion images for promoter No Limit Boxing. We photographed Inoue at his training gym in Tokyo and delivered the images the same night. This was sports photography in Tokyo against a same-night deadline.
How we shot it
It was a two-person team: a photographer and a producer. Boxers are athletes, not models. They can be shy, and posing for the camera doesn't come naturally, so the work is about slowly guiding them through it until the intensity shows.
