Shiseido EFFECTIM — Beauty Still Life Photography, Tokyo
For the launch of EFFECTIM, the Shiseido brand that combines beauty devices with skincare, we produced, shot and retouched a series of still life images through agency Prodigious in Tokyo. The images launched the brand on social media and the web. Beauty still life photography in Tokyo is a game of millimetres.
How we shot it
We shot over two days in a Tokyo studio: product still life, plus shots of a hand model holding and using the devices. Photographer Andrew Goldie worked with two assistants.
Still life is a discipline of fine adjustments, creating the perfect image in camera rather than fixing it later. The quiet enemy is dust: tiny specks drift through the air and settle on glossy surfaces, and keeping everything clean and perfect is one of the hardest parts of the job.
