Databricks Japan — Corporate Portrait Photography, Tokyo

Databricks' global brand team was looking for a production company in Japan that communicates in English, understands international brand standards and delivers at that level. The brief was workplace portraits of the Japan team for the website and recruitment marketing. Our corporate portrait photography in Tokyo gave them a brand-standard global look that still feels true to Japan, shot in the Databricks office.

How we shot it

We set up in the office with a mix of strobe and daylight. The strobes gave consistent, brand-standard light, and the daylight kept the images feeling like a real workplace. Our photographer began his career 25 years ago in fashion and advertising photography. He then moved into film and founded Alphabet Productions in Japan to deliver work of an international standard.

A bilingual crew that understands both international and Japanese working culture is central to this kind of job. People relax when they are directed in their own language, and it shows in the portraits.

What we delivered

The result was a library of retouched workplace portraits for the Databricks Japan website and recruitment campaigns.
