For Paris production agency Ooshot, we filmed the Tokyo episode of Ruinart's "Cellar to Table" series at L'Osier, the three-Michelin-star French restaurant in Ginza. Founded in 1729, Ruinart is the oldest established champagne house. The film pairs Dom Ruinart 2010 with L'Osier's cuisine, told through interviews with executive chef Olivier Chaignon and the restaurant's sommelier. It sits at the refined end of our food and drink video production in Tokyo.
How we produced it
We filmed over two days in the restaurant. Director/DOP Andrew Goldie directed and shot the video, while the chef and sommelier talked through the pairings and what they look for in a champagne. The interviews moved between French, Japanese and English. Our producer on this shoot was trilingual, so nothing was lost between the French agency, the kitchen and the camera.
A French luxury house, a Japanese kitchen and a camera crew all have their own expectations. Keeping every side comfortable, and every conversation clear, is as much a part of the job as the lighting.
What we delivered
We delivered the interview and food footage for the Tokyo episode, and translated the Japanese captions for the finished series.
